Console and Game sales (November 2020)

November has finally come to a close after Microsoft and Sony release their next generation consoles (Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5). Not only did we see the launch of these new powerful consoles but we also saw a large amount of triple A games released. So the question on everyone's mind is, Who's leading the pack?

Starting with Console sales, over 900,000 consoles were sold in the UK throughout November. Currently leading sales is Sony's PlayStation 5, followed by a comfortably sitting Nintendo Switch which has constantly been fighting over the top spot as the switch still remains very high in demand even after 3 years of hitting the shelf. Closing up on the Nintendo Switch, is of course, Microsoft's Xbox Series X.

What makes these figures hard to analyse, is the fact that both Microsoft and Sony are selling out of stock globally, which affects sales by simply the amount of consoles they can manufacture and satisfy consumer demand. It's most interesting to see how Nintendo are holding their own against these two behemoth's! With the Switch still in such high demand and becoming Nintendo's most successful console so far, the rumours are still strong that a new and improved Switch will be hitting the shelves next year. 2021 is going to be an interesting year for all 3 companies.

Now let's take a look at the top 10 games chart as of November 21st

1/ Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (PS4/XO/PS5/XSX)

2/ FIFA 21 (PS4/XO/NS)

3/ Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PS5/PS4)

4/ Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (PS4/XO/PS5)

5/ Fortnite: The Last Laugh Bundle (XO/NS/PS4/PS5)

6/ Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity (NS)

7/ Watch Dogs: Legion (PS5/XO/PS4)

8/ Animal Crossing: New Horizons (NS)

9/ Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (NS)

10/ Minecraft (NS)

-With no surprise, Cold War has taken the number 1 spot and has knocked FIFA 21 down to the 2nd spot.

-Coming in at number 3, we have the new Spider-man: Miles Morales, which expected to do well and 3rd place appears to have done just that, with Cold War and FIFA available on almost all platforms, Spider-man has made it's sales from only the PS4 and PS5, No Demons Souls to be seen within the top 10 though.

-Valhalla In 4th place which continues to strive with strong sales ahead of Watch Dogs Legion which launched just over a week earlier, which stands in 7th place

-Despite Fortnite been a free-to-play game, their latest bundle 'The Last Laugh' has sold extremely well with a 5th place.

-Hyrule Warriors, the latest instalment of the Zelda franchise hit shelves, not climbing as high as to be expected unfortunatley and sits in 6th

-Animal Crossing, Mario Kart 8 and Minecraft ALL for the Nintendo Switch, take up 8th, 9th and 10th in the charts
